This festival site showcased Toronto's rich arts and cultural-entertainment scene featuring jazz, swing, big band, opera and orchestral music along with street theatre, dance and visual arts. Festival-goers visited Yonge & St. Clair for a truly unique and inspiring celebration of Toronto's vibrant arts community.

Midnight crawled into the Hooch with the Shim-Sham and got shoved down the stairs on a torrent of Cab Calloway before any of the swing kids could notice. There was Joanna and Tyler and Sean by the bar; there was Danielle, a Jean Arthur dopplegänger under retro-bleached curls; there was Jessica kicking her saddle shoes into a sundae'd blur; there was Mandy and her sister Zoey, almost identically round-cheeked and fresh-complected as a 1926 Borax ad, and they had all come to Lindy Hop.

Club spotlight: Swing and Social Dance Club


Like busting a move outside the world of DDR? The Swing and Social Dance Club is here to teach you how to really move for $10 for 10 weeks.


Jillian Sauder, member of the club, mentioned that UW Swing is hoping to get a few dances goibng on over the summer term. She said Bomber and Caesar Martini’s as two possible venues. Sauder hopes to attract a great deal of members as well as non-members to these events.
